Johnny Davis, shortstop of the Lions baseball team, is trying to hold his young team together. Although talented, even with a girl playing second base, they struggle because the only coach they can find, Ronnie Robinson, gave up on life due to a devastating injury to his pitching arm. A broken window brings Cora Stevens, an elderly woman living next door, to them. Amazingly, they learn her father was a member of the New York Yankees when she was a child, and she is surprisingly knowledgeable about baseball. After her husband's death many years ago, she, too, had given up on life. As the team battles against all of the obstacles their opponents can throw at them, Mrs. Stevens and Coach Robinson find themselves, and in doing so show the team how to battle back. Lions of the Connor League is an inspiring story where good triumphs over evil.
Filled with baseball action, Lions of the Connor League is the story of a group of people who overcome prejudice, economic hardship, substance abuse and the unfairness that life sometimes brings, to persevere in a heartwarming way.
