Description

M. Annaei Lucani Pharsaliae, Liber 1 (1875) is a Latin epic poem written by the Roman poet Lucanus, Marcus Annaeus. The poem is the first book of the Pharsaliae, which is an account of the civil war between Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great. The poem is written in dactylic hexameter and contains 764 lines. The first book focuses on the events leading up to the civil war, including Caesar's crossing of the Rubicon and Pompey's flight to Greece. The poem also includes descriptions of the Roman landscape and the political climate of the time. This edition of the poem was published in 1875 and includes a preface and notes by the editor, as well as a glossary of Latin words and phrases. It is a valuable resource for students of Latin literature and Roman history. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
