With the synodal resolution on the renewal of the relationship between Christians and Jews of the Protestant Church in the Rhineland in 1980, for the first time a Protestant regional Church in Germany anchored the Christian-Jewish relationship and the Christian-Jewish dialogue both ecclesiologically and structurally in its own self-understanding. Since then, most of the regional Churches within the EKD as well as the EKD itself have followed this path.
