I felt completely lost.
I'd made my consecration to Mary on the cold evening of December 8, 1989, at St. Thomas More Cathedral in Arlington, Virginia.
That was less than a year after I'd tragically lost my mother in a car accident. At the time, I was in the middle of preparing for my consecration to Mary.
But I got sidetracked when that horrendous accident happened.
A short time after I finally made my consecration to Mary, I felt like I was walking in quicksand. I didn't notice any difference in my devotion to Mary after my consecration as before.
Then I remembered that St. Louis de Montfort had said...
"I have found many people who, with admirable zeal, have adopted the exterior practices of this holy slavery of Jesus and Mary, but I have found only a few who have accepted its interior spirit, and still fewer who have persevered in it" ("The Secret of Mary", #44).
That described me to a T.
So, why am I sharing this?
Because a Montfort Father gave me a copy of a biography of St. Louis, written by Canon Blain, St. Louis' best friend.
In it, Canon Blain, mentions that "The Holy Slavery of the Admirable Mother of God" was St. Louis' favorite Marian book.
St. Louis admitted...
"I have now said many things about the Most Holy Virgin; but I have many more to say, and there are infinitely more which I shall omit, whether from ignorance, inability, or want of time" ("True Devotion to Mary", #111).
That explains why I felt lost. This book fills in those gaps. That's why it'll help you as well. St. Louis revealed...
"Predestinate soul, here is a secret the Most High has taught me, which I have not been able to find in any book, old or new. I confide it to you, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit" (Secret, #1).
Any devotion to Mary which God reveals has to be the best devotion to her, because no one can outdo Him.
And St. Louis assures you that this devotion...
"...is a path trodden by Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, our sole Head. One of His members in passing by the same road cannot deceive himself" (True Devotion, #168).
St. Louis warns that taking any other path to God will make your life much harder...
"It is true that we can attain to divine union by other roads; but it is by many more crosses and exceptional setbacks, and with many more difficulties, which we shall find it hard to overcome" (True Devotion, #152).
On the other hand, he calls the devotion God revealed to him...
"...a path of roses and honey compared with the other paths" (True Devotion, #152).
Listen...
Jesus said about His Father: "I always do the things that please Him" (Jn. 8:29).
That's one reason why God the Father tells us:
"This is My most beloved Son; hear ye Him" (Mk. 9:6).
That means any thoughts of ignoring this devotion or of delaying to put it into practice can't possibly come from God. Because God will never tell you to ignore His Son's example or to delay putting into practice a devotion to Mary which Jesus lived.
God gives us this backdrop to human history...
"The Lord God then asked the woman: "Why did you do such a thing?" And she answered: "The serpent deceived me, and I did eat" (Gen. 3:13).
If Eve responded immediately to the suggestion of the devil...
Doesn't it make much more sense for you to get started following Jesus just as quickly on the path of this devotion to His holy Mother?
I think you know the answer. Your next step is easy: Just order your copy of this book today, and let Our Lady lead you to her Son.
St. Louis assures you...
"Do not think, dear soul, that Mary, the most fruitful of all pure creatures, who has brought forth even a God, remains idle in a faithful soul. She will cause Jesus Christ to live in that soul, and the soul to live in constant union with Jesus Christ" (Secret, #56).
