Vietnam 1968. A US Marine platoon led by Tristram 8th Earl of Oundle had been airlifted to a clearing 15 klicks north of where they should have been dropped, outside radio range. After days of fighting Tristram allowed his platoon to attack a supposed Vietcong camp, but it was a village. Many innocents were killed. Tristram was a broken man, consumed by guilt. He resigned his commission and went to India to find salvation. Back in the UK, far from being at peace, he joined a Benedictine Monastery but quit after a year to live alone in remote northern Scotland.
A voyage of self-discovery, combat and romance.
