Description

In the final volume of the trilogy the Regent faces new dangers and treachery from those she had considered friends. The tense and miserable standoff is resolved in a startling way that leads to defeat for both Natacha and Helen.
New and violent forces are unleashed before, in an unexpected twist, these forces are destroyed. Once again it looks as if the traditional values of the Matriarchy are saved.
During the course of the story the focus gradually shifts from Natacha to her daughter, the child Matriarch Thena. As she matures she shows that she has the passion and the courage of her mother and of the Heiras line. And it is she and her friends who stumble upon the answer to the greatest mystery of all.
