He completed his MFA in Graduate Studies in Ceramics at Rhode Island School of Design in 1974. He has spent the majority of his career (1976-2001) as a full-time studio potter in Asheville, North Carolina. He served as the initial director of Odyssey Center for the Ceramic Arts in Asheville from 1994 to 1995 and as a university professor of art from 1999 to 2015. His work is included in the collections of Rhode Island School of Design; The Asheville Art Museum; The International Museum of Ceramics in Alfred, New York; The Mint Museum in Charlotte, North Carolina; and Shirakawa Public Hall in Japan.
